Heat Pumps

Discover the Many Advantages of a Mini-split Heat Pump

Mini-split heat pumps are environmental heroes that heat and cool with incredible efficiency! For you, it means lower energy bills.Minisplit Heat Pumps with Remote Control

√ Save! Because there are no ducts, installation is easy, and there is no heat or cooling loss through ductwork as with conventional systems.

√ Individual zoning allows you to heat or cool only where you need it, when you need it.

√ Quiet. Ductless heat pumps have an indoor and outdoor unit. Inside, peace reigns, because the contractor can install louder components like compressors and motors outdoors.

√ Quick & Easy to Install. You can be warmer or cooler faster! Installations typically can be done in one day.

√ Perfect for Renovations or older homes or situations where adding ductwork might be a problem.

How do mini-split heat pumps work?

Diagram How a Heat Pump operatesWith two main components—an outdoor compressor/condenser and an indoor air-handling unit(s) (evaporator)—mini-splits compress cool outside air in winter to heat it and they reverse the process in summer to provide cooling. They are easy to install usually requiring only a three-inch hole through a wall for the conduit; which houses the power and communication cables, copper tubing, and a condensation drain line, linking the outdoor and indoor units.

Mini-split heat pumps are not only great solutions for whole home or new constructions but make good retrofit add-ons to houses with “non-ducted” heating systems, such as hydronic (hot water heat), radiant panels, and space heaters (wood, kerosene, propane). They can also be a good choice for room additions where extending or installing distribution ductwork is not feasible, and energy efficient new homes that require only a small space conditioning system.
